Thank you to all of the girls that tried out for the 2024 Select Lacrosse Teams! It was an impressive group of players and the evaluators had to make some tough choices! 

This years' announcements of team placement have gone out to all of the families that registered for tryouts. 

Players that received an email from Select Coaches confirming their placement on a Select Team, please click here to register for both full roster players & alternates.

Milton hires professional coaches for the Select Teams. Those coaches run the evaluations so that there are no questions regarding parent coach influence on who is chosen for each team.

Girls Grades 3 - 8 SELECT Lacrosse 

• Highly competitive games played on Friday nights vs. local towns across the region
• Players are chosen during annual Select Tryouts in March
• Playing time may not be equal, emphasis will be on good sportsmanship with the goal of winning games to make the Championships
• The Select League is an add-on to Travel with an additional registration fee (expected to be $250 for 2024). 

Commitment:

• In addition to Travel Team commitments, Select Practice 1x/week starting March 20.
• Players need to be able to attend all Select weekly practices and games. Any exceptions should be discussed with the coaches. 
• Friday night games 1x/week starting early April, ending Mid-May for regular season, or early June if a team makes the playoffs.
• Game dates listed below

Eligibility - To play in the SELECT league a player must: 

• Be registered in the Sunday Classic League, practicing and playing with their travel team each week
• Reside in, or attend school in, the town they are registered to play for
• A player from a town without a girls lacrosse program, may play on a town's Sunday league team, but they may not play on a town's Friday Select League team

General Rules

• Select League Game rules are defined on the 2023 EMWLUA Lacrosse Rulescard
• Full checking is only allowed at 7/8 grade with two adult officials -- otherwise it's modified checking.
• Modified checking always applies to 5/6 Select League play.
• No pass requirement for 5/6 or 7/8 Select League play.
• Games are scheduled on the hour: two 25-minute halves.

Specific Select League Rules

• Games do not end in a tie.
• A 2-player Braveheart competition —1 field player and 1 goalie per team — determines winner as follows:
  • A goalie from each team protects the same cage (they are in or out of the goal based on who has possession.
  • Braveheart starts with a draw at midfield. Players position for the draw on the same side teams started the game on.
  • If a goalie makes a save, they are allowed a free clear to her teammate, who then takes the ball out to the 12-meter fan before attacking, allowing the goalies to switch places. Defenders can engage as soon as the ball is cleared to the 12-meter fan.
  • First goal wins.

Friday Select League Game Dates

• Regular Season: April 5, 12, 26,  May 3, 10, 17
• Playoffs: May 28 - June 6
• Championships June 7 (Raindate June 14)
