BOYS & GIRLS GRADES 3-8 TRAVEL LACROSSE  REGISTER HERE!! Registration Deadline January 29, 2025.

Milton Travel and Select Teams Play in the Mass Youth Lacrosse League. You can find links to game specific information and rules on their website.

Classic League Travel Teams are rostered by grade, with an evenly balanced distribution of player ability across each team.  All travel teams from each town are equal in skill (no A team, B team).

The focus at this is to teach the sport with a focus on sportsmanship and teamwork over score, developing players in a positive environment, and providing a fun experience that will foster a lifetime love of the game for all involved.

Leagues require equal playing time for grades 1-4 travel players, with the primary focus of the game being on learning the sport vs. score of the game. Grades 5-8 playing time should still be as equal as possible with players being on the field for at least a total of half of the game time.

Milton Youth Lacrosse town and travel programs are open to all eligible players and are not selective, nor are travel teams ranked.

Athletes can start playing lacrosse at any age, without prior experience! Every year we have many first time players in every grade from 1st through 8th.

For players ready to play at a higher level, with playoffs, we also participate in the MYL Boys and Girls Select Leagues. Select programs are an add-on to Travel and require tryouts to make those teams.

PHILOSOPHY OF MILTON'S TRAVEL PROGRAM

  • All players participate equally (i.e. equal playing time) in all games
  • Evenly balanced teams based on a player’s grade, age, skill, size, and experience
  • No "A" and "B" or "stacked" or “ranked” teams, nor standings or playoffs at any level of the MYL Classic program.
  • Weekly scores are reported to the town director to share with the League. Coaches should make every effort to avoid a vast difference in scores as that would create a negative experience for children and indicate poor sportsmanship by a coach.

GOALS AT THIS AGE

  • Teach the sport and sportsmanship
  • Develop players skills
  • Realize the importance of teamwork
  • Provide a fun experience that will foster a lifetime love of the game for all involved

SELECT Program: Add-on League to Travel. Higher level of play for top players across grades 5-8. Select teams are chosen during tryouts in March.
